Watu wengi tuna tabia ya kutoona ubaya wa mtu au jambo kutokana na mapenzi makubwa tuliyokuwa nayo na mtu huyo au jambo fulani. Usemi huu hutumika kwa mtu ambaye analipenda au analiunga mkono jambo fulani au mtu au kitu fulani. Mtu wa namna hii huwa hakubali kuwa jambo hilo ni la aibu au lina kasoro yoyote. Hata kama ni kweli mtu huyo, ama jambo hilo lina kasoro, atalitetea kwa kila namna. Badala ya kusema ukweli uliopo, chongo na kasoro zilizo wazi kabisa, mtetezi atabisha sana na kusema, “wewe huoni vizuri, hicho unachoona wewe ni kasoro ndogo tu”.

Msimamo wa huyu jamaa ni ule wa kengeza, wa kutoona ukweli wa mambo. Yote hiyo ni kupenda sana kitu na kushindwa kuona mapungufu yake. Hali kadhalika, kumpenda mtu kiasi cha kutoona mabaya ama kasoro zake ni tatizo na hivyo kuweza kuambiwa na watu usemi huo wa “akipenda chongo, huona kengeza”.

Yatupasa tuwe na macho ya kuona ukweli na kukubali mapungufu yaliyopo. Kwa kufanya hivyo tutaweza kuchangia katika kurekebisha zile kasoro zinazoonwa na wenzetu na hivyo tutakuwa tunatenda haki kwenye jamii yetu.

The Healing Hands Project

The Healing Hands empowers people to achieve financial autonomy by building entrepreneurial skills and embedding skills transfer within the community – alleviating poverty as a driver of ill mental health. Funds raised from the jewelry will help sustain free mental health services in underserved communities and promote the economic empowerment of trained grandmothers who implementing #WHO #mhGAP evidence-based psychosocial interventions. The project provides interpersonal counseling, group talk therapy, and psychoeducation resources, referrals, advocacy and awareness raising delivered through arts.
