Wengi wetu tunapopata changamoto tunachanganyikiwa na kuona ugumu kiasi cha kukata tamaa. Lakini angalizo ni kwamba, wote tunaowaona kuwa wamefanikiwa katika maisha yao walizichukua changamoto walizozipata kama fursa kwao. Mfano mzuri napenda tuuangalie ni wa mfanyabiashara mkubwa nchini, Bhakresa. Juice anazotengeneza ni kutokana na matunda yazalishwayo na wakulima wadogo wadogo vijijini.

Mwanzoni wakulima hawa walikuwa wanazalisha matunda kidogo kwa sababu hakukuwa na soko la uhakika. Lakini baada ya Bakhresa kuanza kukusanya matunda kutoka kwa wakulima hawa, uzalishaji uliongezeka. Hivyo waliweza kuuza matunda mengi na matokeo yake, maisha yao yakabadilika na kuwa mazuri zaidi na yenye mafanikio. Kiuhalisia, watu wengi wenye mtazamo wa maendeleo huziona changamoto kama fursa ya kuanzisha jambo ili kuweza kukabili changamoto hizo.

Mfano mwingine ni mifumo iliyoanzishwa ya kuweka na kukopa, mfano Vicoba. Changamoto ilikuwa kina mama wajasiriamali kutoweza kupata mikopo kutoka benki. Pamoja na kwamba wanawake hawa wana uwezo wa kufanya biashara, hawakukidhi kupata mikopo kutoka benki kwa ajili ya mitaji. Vigezo na masharti vilikuwa vigumu kwao. Changamoto hii iliwaamsha akina mama na hivyo kutafuta suluhisho. Huduma za kifedha zisizo na masharti magumu zilianzishwa ili wakina mama wakopeshane na kuendesha miradi yao midogo midogo. Kutokana na huduma hii, akina mama wengi wamejikwamua na kufanikiwa kimaisha, wao wenyewe pamoja na familia zao.

Kwa kifupi, sote hapa yatupasa kujifunza faida chanya za changamoto. Inatubidi tujifunze kuangalia changamoto kama fursa na sio tatizo tu. Wengi tunaowaona wamefanikiwa kimaisha ni wale walioangalia na kuzichukua changamoto kama fursa na si vinginevyo. Ukikaa na kulalama tu juu ya changamoto bila kutafuta njia za ufumbuzi unaweza ukaishia pabaya na kuyaona maisha kuwa hayafai kuyaishi. Changamoto zinakomaza akili na kumfanya mwanadamu awe mbunifu kwenye maisha yake. Kuna baadhi ya watu husema, maisha bila changamoto yanachosha kuyaishi, kwa maneno mengine, ‘yanaboa’.

The Healing Hands Project

The Healing Hands project will economically empower people to achieve financial autonomy by building entrepreneurial skills and embedding skills transfer within the community – eliminating poverty as a driver of ill mental health. Funds raised from the jewelry will help sustain the implementation of accessible psychosocial interventions in underserved communities and promote the economic empowerment of the grandmothers who have been trained in and are implementing WHO’s mental health Gap Action Program. Healing Hands provides interpersonal counseling, group talk therapy, and psychoeducation resources delivered through arts, where clients learn to handcraft traditional beaded jewelry as a marketable skill.
