Binadamu wengi mara nyingi tunapohitaji ama kupanga mambo huwa tunapenda yatokee mapema iwezekanavyo. Wala siyo ajabu kuwa na mategemeo hayo, ni ubinadamu, ni kawaida kabisa.

Kila mtu ana haki ya kuwa na ndoto, ndoto za jinsi maisha yake yawe. Wakati mwingine huwa ni ndoto za Alinacha, ndoto za kusadikika. Kuna hadithi ya kijana mmoja jina lake Rahim aliyebahatika kusoma hadi kufika Chuo Kikuu. Ndoto ya kusoma alikuwa nayo tokea akiwa mdogo na Mungu kwa hakika alimbariki hadi akatimiza ndoto yake.

Baada ya kumaliza na kupata digrii yake matarajio yake yakapanuka zaidi. Alijiona kuwa sasa ana nafasi na haki ya kupata kazi kubwa ya kufanana na hadhi yake kwani kisomo chake kilikuwa ni kikubwa. Mungu alimjalia akapata kazi ya kawaida tu na siyo kubwa vile alivyokuwa anatarajia . Aliifanya kazi hiyo kwa bidii zake zote kwa muda wa miaka saba hivi na kwa mshahara ule ule alioanzia. Wenzake waliokuwa nyuma yake walipata kazi nzuri zaidi zenye mishahara mikubwa. Walimshawishi aache kazi pale na atafute sehemu nyingine yenye mshahara mkubwa zaidi.

Rahim alitafakari ushauri huo ambao kwa upande ulikuwa ni mzuri, pengine kimaslahi zaidi. Mawazo yalimjia kichwani, kwa upande moja alivutiwa kusikiliza ushauri wa wenzie na upande mwingine roho ikawa inasita. Baada ya kuishauri nafsi yake kwa dhati aliamua kuituliza roho yake pale alipo. Alimuomba Mwenyezi Mungu amsaidie kufikia maamuzi sahihi. Aliona ni vema kuwa na subira ili avute kheri.

Aliendelea kusubiri, na alisubiri sana kwani ilipita miaka mingime kumi kabla historia yake mpya haijaanza kuandikwa.

Siku moja akiwa kazini kwake alipigiwa simu na Mkurugenzi Mkuu (MK) wa shirika moja la kimaifa hapa nchini. Mazungumzo yalikuwa hivi: “Naongea na ndugu Rahim”?, sauti
nzito na yenye madaraka ilisikika kutoka upande wa pili. “Naam, ni mimi”, sauti iliyosheheni adabu ilijibu. Mkurugenzi alendelea: “mimi ni Mkurugenzi Mkuu wa shirika la Kimataifa. Ninakuhitaji uje siku ya Alhamisi ofisini kwangu saa 4 asubuhi.” Alimuelekeza ofisi hiyo ilipo ili asipate tabu kuitafuta.

Alhamsi ilipofika saa tatu na nusu alikuwa tayari pale ofisini akisubiri. Ilipofika saa 4 kamili mhudumu wa ofisi alienda kumwita Rahim aliyekuwa ametulizana pale mapokezi akisubiri. Alisimama na kufuatana na yule mhudumu hadi mlangoni kwa MK. Alipoingia alikaribishwa kwa furaha, MK alianza kwa kusema: “Nimefurahi sana kukuona na ninakushukuru kuitikia wito wangu”. Aliendelea, “nimekuita kwa sababu ninamtafuta mtu anayefaa kushika nafasi ya MK katika shirika hili. Nimekuwa nawafuatilia watu wengi ili kuweza kupata mtu anayefaa. Mimi karibu naondoka kurudi Ulaya na hivyo ningependa kumpata mzalendo aweze kushika nafasi hii. Watu zaidi ya kumi wamechunguzwa kwa ajili ya nafasi hii. Baada ya kushauriana na watu wengi kutoka Serikali ya Tanzania imeonekana kuwa wewe, Rahim ndiye kijana unayefaa kushika nafasi hii. Ningependa kujua unasemaje kuhusu fursa hii. Siyo lazima unijibu leo, bali nakupa muda wa siku tatu kufikiri ili baada ya hapo uweze kunipatia majibu”, MK alimaliza.

Rahma alipigwa na butwaa asiweze kujibu lolote zaidi ya kububujikwa na machozi. Hakuwahi kutegemea kabisa kusikia na kupata muujiza kama huo katika maisha yake. Hatimaye, Rahim alipata nguvu ya kwenda kumshukuru MK kwa nafasi hiyo. Baada ya siku tatu alirudi kwa MK na kuikubali nafasi hiyo ya pekee.

Tunajifunza nini kutoka simulizi hii? Yapo mengi ya kujifunza lakini yafuatayo ni ya msingi zaidi:

  1. Kutumikia nafasi tunazozipata kwa umakini na kwa bidii. Umakini katika kazi ndio uliomfikisha Rahim hapo.
  2. Kutulia mahali pamoja kwenye sehemu ya kazi kunakujengea historia fulani na inakuwa rahisi kufuatilia historia yako. Rahim alitumikia kwenye ajira aliyokuwa nayo kwa zaidi ya miaka 16. Kama angekuwa anaacha acha ajira, mara hapa, mara kule isingekuwa rahisi kufuatilia sifa zake za kiajira. Uvumilivu wake ulimwezesha Rahim kutengeneza historia ya utendaji wake wa kazi. Kampuni hiyo ya kimataifa iliweza kupata utendaji wa kazi wa Rahim kwa urahisi sana kupitia ‘referee’ wake.
  3. Tunajifunza bayana kuwa ‘Subira huvuta kheri / Mvumilivu hula mbivu. Miaka mingi aliyofanya kazi kwenye
    ajira yake haikumfannya azorote kwenye utendaji wake. Alifanya kazi kwa bidii, akaonekana kutokana na utulivu wake wa kukaa sehemu moja ya ajira muda mrefu. Hatimaye alionekana, akainuliwa.

The Healing Hands Project

The Healing Hands project will economically empower people to achieve financial autonomy by building entrepreneurial skills and embedding skills transfer within the community – eliminating poverty as a driver of ill mental health. Funds raised from the jewelry will help sustain the implementation of accessible psychosocial interventions in underserved communities and promote the economic empowerment of the grandmothers who have been trained in and are implementing WHO’s mental health Gap Action Program. Healing Hands provides interpersonal counseling, group talk therapy, and psychoeducation resources delivered through arts, where clients learn to handcraft traditional beaded jewelry as a marketable skill.
